Day 83 - We Have Company!!!!
/Today is a very special day for us! My sister and brother-in-law are coming to Barcelona for 1 week to visit us and see the town! After not seeing any family for 83 days, this sure is a nice treat and we are all very excited.
Morning Crafts
The kids started off the morning by making some crafts with the seashells they have collected so far at Barceloneta Beach.
We have quite a few small convenience shops around us that sell everything from clothes to pots and pans. Everything in there is generally very cheap (1 or 2 Euros) and they really have anything you can think of. We bought some construction paper, scissors, and glitter glue for the kids, the perfect materials for some fun crafty activities :)
Visitors!
In the afternoon, after my sister and brother-in-law had checked into their hotel, we headed out to meet them. The kids were ecstatic to see their aunt and uncle and they loved getting early birthday presents: a set of Turbo snails and race cars for Kian and a set of Ariel and 2 of her sisters for Hannah. YAY!
We spent the evening showing our visitors around Placa Catalunya, followed by La Rambla and the Columbus Monument. Since it was Saturday night, the place was packed and very hopping. As we walked, we came across the Palau de la Virreina Cultura, which was just about to close. We were able to hop in really quickly and see the Gegants (Giants) exhibit. These giants are frequently part of Catalan celebrations. A person can go inside a "giant" and walk it down the street. They even make small ones for children to carry down the streets apparently.
We enjoyed some paella for dinner on La Rambla and walked around the port before heading home. It was just before midnight when we got home with two very tired but non complaining kids. They were too excited about their new toys and seeing their aunt and uncle after so long :)
Tomorrow, we plan to go on a free walking tour of Barcelona. Can't wait to see where it will take us!
To take a break from our packing and cleaning, we took a short trip (with our car), to Barcelona's rooftop, Mount Tibidabo.
